Fresh Journal Version 3.0 BETA Now Available for Download!
WOW, this is definitely our greatest update yet! Version 3.0 BETA is now available to every customer. Please note the “beta” – I will need feedback from users to find out if there are any bugs with this version before I make it a full release.
What Changed in 3.0 BETA?
1. RSS Subscription and Twitter Feed WIDGETS!!!
Without a doubt, our new RSS Subscription and Twitter Feed widgets offer the biggest update to Fresh Journal! Rather than deciding to display these special options at the top or bottom of your sidebar, they are now included as widgets under “Appearance > Widgets,” providing users complete control over where they’re displayed and how!
2. Home Page Format
Definitely one of the most requested features, users now have the option to choose whether to display excerpts or FULL POSTS on their home page!
3. Sidebar Layout
This is one of the best new features in 3.0 – the ability to move your sidebar to the left or right! Should make for even more unique Fresh Journal blog designs!
4. Custom Menu Support
Now users have complete control over what links appear in the header navigation and footer menu using WordPress’s built-in menu customization!
5. Image Uploader in Theme Options
Users now have the ability to easily upload their favicon, logo and background images directly on the theme options page!
6. Author Bio
Want to send some love to your awesome guest bloggers? Now it’s easy with the option of an author box displayed at the bottom of your posts!
7. Show Next/Previous Links
Display page navigation at the bottom of your home page so that visitors can easily find older posts!
8. Facebook Like Button
With the click of a button you can display a Facebook Like and Send button at the top of your posts!
9. Featured Post Count
If you’re a fan of the tabbed featured posts option, you’re going to love being able to customize it by choosing how many posts should be featured (max=5)!
10. Logo Image Height
Have a big logo you want implemented into your design? With version 3.0, you now have the ability to customize the height of your header to fit any logo!
11. Custom 404 Text
Users now have the option of customizing the text displayed on 404 pages!
What Is No Longer Included in 3.0 BETA?
1. Exclude Pages/Categories
With the implementation of custom menus, this features has been deprecated.
2. Social Network Links
Due to recent issues with Twitter’s API, social network links have been removed, but will be re-implemented as soon as this particular issue is resolved. However, updated social network BUTTONS have been implemented!
How Do I Start Using 3.0 BETA?
To begin testing out the new version of Fresh Journal, use the download link in our support forum. Remember, only paying customers have access to these forums. You will find it under Theme Support >> Fresh Journal Theme >> Fresh Journal 3.0 BETA Download
If you’ve made changes to your current theme files, please read through the changelog.txt included in this download. It explains which files have been changed, which are new and which are no longer used.
Please note: The handbook has not yet been updated for 3.0 BETA. It will be updated once this version is no longer in beta.
