How to Create a Sitemap Page with Your Fresh Journal WordPress Theme

Did you know our Fresh Journal WordPress Theme offers you the ability to create a Sitemap for your blog with just a couple clicks? Here’s how:

Step One:

Create a new page. In your WordPress Admin, navigate to “Pages > Add New.”

Add New Page

Step Two:

Name your new page “Sitemap.”

Name Your Page

Step Three:

On the right side of the page under “Attributes,” change the template to “Sitemap.”

Change Template

Step Four (OPTIONAL):

Add an intro paragraph to the textbox. Whatever you type here will appear at the top of your Sitemap.

Add Intro Text

Step Five:

Click “Publish.”

Publish

And that’s it – you’ve just created a simple Sitemap for your website/blog! Your Sitemap automatically presents your content by Page, Month, Category and Post. Check out the live demo of this sitemap here: http://simplyfreshthemes.com/demo/freshjournal/sitemap/

Extra Tips:

  • If you wish to change the content that’s displayed on your Sitemap, simply edit the following theme file: sitemap.php (Please note, it is recommended you have experience with HTML and PHP before editing this file.)
  • This easy Sitemap page is best for smaller sites. If you have hundreds or thousands of pages, I recommend you use a Sitemap plugin to manage your content.
  • This feature does not create an XML Sitemap. There are several plugins for creating XML Sitemaps.

BTW: Following these same steps, you can create a Full-Width or Blog page (a page that allows comments)!
